If you live in Manhattan Beach, Hermosa, or Redondo, you already know the feeling: you clean on Saturday and by Wednesday there's a fine grit on the kitchen floor again. Living near the ocean means sand rides in on shoes, towels, and dogs, and the marine air carries salt that settles on every surface.
Start at the door. A coarse outdoor mat plus a soft indoor mat catches most of the sand before it spreads. Shoes-off at the entry does more for your floors than any vacuum upgrade.
Next, clean the tracks. Sliding-door and window tracks collect sand and salt, which makes doors stick and grinds down the rollers. A quick vacuum of the tracks every couple of weeks keeps them gliding.
Finally, match your schedule to your lifestyle. Homes with kids, pets, or a lot of beach days usually do best with a weekly or bi-weekly regular clean, plus a deep clean a few times a year to reset baseboards, vents, and the places sand settles and stays.
